Neil Pothercary
Instructor Profile :
Sensei Neil Pothecary started karate in January 1996. He trained at the Maesteg club and attained his 1st dan under the instruction of sensei Paul Watson. Neil was a member of the BKA for a few years where he attended various seminars. Over the years Neil has trained with some of Britain’s top instructors such as Sensei Sagagami, Sensei Brian Seabrite (head of the BKA), Sensei Simon Oliver, Sensei Wayne Otto, Sensei Steven Wellington, Sensei Aidan Trimble and Sensei Dave Hazard.
In February 2002 Neil travelled to Manchester where he undertook and passed his 2nd dan grading with the BKA chief instructor Sensei Brian Seabrite.
In 2002 Neil started teaching and opened a club in Bryn. In June 2006 Neil made the decision to apply to re-join the WKU where he met with senior instructors who agreed agendas were mutual with both parties benefiting from this decision. Since rejoining Sensei Neil has re-qualified as a WKGB level 2 coach and has attended a good practice and child protection course.
All of which are nationally recognised qualifications, he now also coaches at the club at Maesteg Sports Centre.
Neil said that since his return to the WKU he and all of his students have been made to feel welcome by all of the WKU members.
