JSKA World Karate Championships:-
Unbelievable results for the WKU from the 5th JSKA World Karate Championships which was held in Portimao, Portugal.
Out of the 10 competitors sent, we came back with 7 medals!
A brilliant performance, as we are not mainly a competition orientated association, but always get great results. (We must be doing something right).
Results:-
Mens Team Kumite over 35 year old:-
Silver Medalists: John Hallett, Gareth Rowe & Don Elston.
Bronze Medalists: Karl Paterson, Wayne Thomas & Ferenc Raab.
Mens Individual Kumite over 45 year old:-
Silver Medalist :- John Hallett.
Matthew Lloyd narrowly missed out, coming 4th in the Mens Kata.
Ray (Basher) Perkins getting a raw deal and being disqualified.
Peter Barnwell fought extremely well beating members of the Mexican team, who were the 2008 team champions.
Katy Hallett, our only lady competing. Gave a brilliant performance in the Kata reaching the finals, but not quite making a medal position.
YOU DID US ALL PROUD!!

L-R:- Matthew Lloyd, John Hallett, Karl Paterson, Ferenc Raab, Don Elston,
Katie Hallett, Peter Barnwell, Gareth Rowe, Ray Perkins & Wayne Thomas.

Our squad with Sensei Abe.
